Interview

Name of Interviewee: Officer Brian Fox

Role/Job: Police

Summary of the Interview: I have just interviewed Brian Fox, police officer of Hinesburg supports the Second Amendment of Right to Bear Arms. It's a good deed to have guns to self-defend ourselves and protect others. He believes that there shouldn't be any restriction on guns beside full-automatic weapons. Brian Fox has said that anyone should be able to have the right to bear arms and shouldn't be restricted. He would like people to say they have a weapon in the vehicle concealed in their car. Overall, he supports the Second Amendment and thinks individuals should be allowed to have guns except any type of full-automatic weapon.

Panel Day Reflection

Panel Day Reflection
On Panel Day, there was a lot of questions being answered. They did introduce themselves to us and then explain about the "Right to Bear Arms". I think Officer Dempsey said that guns will no more be restricted in Vermont. To say something about that-- its sort of a good thing but the laws in Vermont is bad. Purchasing guns that doesn't require permit isn't right.

Would Allowing Students to Carry Weapons Make College Campuses Safer?

Some people believe that students should be allowed to conceal weapons on school campuses. A student had a shotgun on campus during a situation when a person with a handgun was trying to kill someone. The student held the shooter till the police arrived 11 minutes later. No one else had got wounded or killed. "The idea of using guns for self-defense in schools is gaining serious traction." 85% of Americans consider it appropriate for principals and or teachers to use them. Guns at school, defending the lives of students would stop the outrageous massacre.

Other people believe that guns in school are bad. Students at a young-adult age possess guns and conceal them in their bags or pants. Guns are harmful because many people are afraid of handguns or any type of weapon. Us humans do and don't use guns properly, chances are that people would use gun to kill themselves, attack someone with it, or homicide. "Thus, the policy solution advocated by the gun lobby to arm all students may well make it easier for those bent on carrying out destruction to bring guns onto campus."

Guns for the Common Good

“Guns for the Common Good”

An Armed Society is a Polite Society. Gun owners, in contrast, take the responsibility of owning, and where legal, carrying a gun very seriously although, owning and carrying a gun is an overwhelming responsibility. That is the reason when concealed carry laws pass there isn’t a huge increase in rage crimes or spree killings with guns.

The following things are required for responsible gun ownership.First, an honest trust of our citizens and solid desire to allow them to go armed if they so choose. Second, the self-control to handle situations while armed that don’t require the use of deadly force without bringing into mass chaos. The same reasons explain the basic and truthful statement that an armed society is a polite society.

Self-defense is a human right. Enduring the law, citizens should avoid using deadly force to protect themselves, their families and their businesses, unless they have no other option to avoid death or risk of serious injury. Remember that you’re firing only to stop an attack. If the person dies as a result of you doing your best to stop his attack, that’s his problem, not yours. If our lives are endangered by plots, violence, armed robbers, or enemies, any and every way of doing something of protecting ourselves is morally right.

“The Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights that protects the rights of the people to keep and bear arms.” -(Previous Blog Post) Guns save lives because it is possible that guns save more lives than they cost. Gun can sometimes prevent crime and perhaps even save a victim’s life. “Criminals are less likely to attack someone that they believe might be armed.” -(Previous Blog PostA person may feel safer being armed with a handgun and feel free to go out to anywhere, even when near any dangerous areas.

People need protection from harm. They also need protection of property and family. Guns are not bad to have. Some guns go through their entire life being shot only at targets, and never at a person or thing. It really just depends on the person behind them. A good person behind a gun will protect his/her family and that will be with the gun. A bad person will use a gun for revenge or other crimes. If a child is under ten-seeing and getting hold of a gun while no adults are supervising- that child could immediately kill himself/herself. While there are some who should not be trusted with guns, there are others that absolutely need them.

The 2nd Amendment did not get into the “Bill of Rights” by accident. It was put there to give the people the final say in our government’s system. We certainly wish that no children should have guns. Children on’t know the use of it but finding out how while holding a gun, is critical and determined. I suggest hiding the gun at higher places or somewhere to lock it up. Take “Responsibility” for your life, liberty, and happiness, go buy a “GUN”. Protection is needed; this is why our society has guns to help keep the U.S clean without chaos.

Original Post

My topic is called "Right to Bear Arms". “The Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights that protects the rights of the people to keep and bear arms.” It's about that each individual should have the rights to own or carry weapons. In this context, "arms" refers to a variety of weapons and armor and to "bear arms" meant to wage war. In our law now are only militias can carry guns around just to defend and bring justice to America. Those like the police can carry handguns for any big situations to defend themselves from any harm at any costs. The laws about this are not acceptable. Because they certainly don't want any civilians go attacking another civilian with guns in their hands. It probably would cause bloodshed and much more violence in the world which would cause America a terrible place to make peace. I think its a good idea that individuals should have at least 1 gun to protect themselves from harm but, all civilians with no guns would be much more safer way so we don't turn our civilians into criminals.

In America, how many countries made "right to bear arms" illegal?
Well, my answer is that most countries agree to this law that it should be illegal. Not everyone should be able to carry a gun around to protect themselves or kill someone. The federal government are very careful with their laws in the U.S. Guns are used to protect the people and ourselves but also is dangerous to handle. Guns are used for killing people. There’s no good or bad deed about guns. Guns have been official to carry in every country for only military use.Criminals are less likely to attack someone that they believe might be armed.”

My Expanations

Issue Explanation:
"Right to Bear Arms" means to own or carry weapons. We also call this “The Second Amendment” just in case they need to get rid of the first one. This is most likely about gun control, although this could lead to gun-violence. As we all know that gun violence is a big issue, it’s in the highest risk level which they consider it as a threat. Potentially the courts choose to ban those who carry weapons in public. America is afraid of guns. Not many would want to kill anyone that steps in the way or break the Law. Those who dare to oppose the ban; they were trying to confront with the government to make gun control legalized. Everyone has their own thoughts and purposes about it. Yes, I agree that every individual should have a gun to protect themselves from danger. Yes, we should have it ban for a reason, to stop the gun violence at its critical rate to wish no harm in America. Only militias can carry a weapon for incoming war or somewhere in a dangerous situation. In America now, common people use guns to purposely attack anyone that threats them. In most cases, they knew that once they start killing one or more people, they choose to commit suicide using the gun. They don’t want to be caught but chose the path to end their lives. The gun suicidal rate is 40%. Commit suicidal rate is 50%.

Constitutional Explanation:
The Second Amendment in the Bill of Rights that protects the rights of the people to keep and bear arms. The Second Amendment states that "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the People to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed."

Current Interpretation:
However, the Supreme Court has now definitively held that the Second Amendment protects an individual's right to possess a firearm unconnected with service in a militia, and to use that weapon for traditionally lawful purposes, such as self-defense within the home. Moreover, this right applies not just to the federal government, but to states and municipalities as well.

Court Cases:
United States vs. Miller
The District Court agreed to dismiss the case about Miller and his friend because Miller and Layton argued that the National Firearms Act. Violated their Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. Why? They were charged by Arkansas federal district court when they transported a double barrel 12-gauge shotgun in interstate commerce which is violating the NFA. Coming to the conclusion--The Supreme Court reversed the district court, holding that the Second Amendment does not GUARANTEE an individual the right to keep and bear a sawed- off double barrel shotgun.

District of Columbia v. Heller
The District in Columbia has put a ban on handguns. Private gun owners say that is against their Second Amendment rights. The Court decided that yes it is against their Second Amendment rights and an individual have the rights to bear arms. The Court held that the Second Amendment protects an individual right to possess a firearm that isn't connected with service in a militia, therefore, must follow and obey the lawful purpose traditionally, such as having a gun at home for self-defense. All states have their own laws of rights to ban gun control, unfortunately Washington DC is not a state, it's a district--indeed has the rights to bear arms only if you have license or permit to possess handguns or any other weaponry.
